Abstract

ABSTRACT

This study is aimed to classify and describe the education value in “Miracle Worker” movie based on the students’ perception of fifth semester of english education study program at IAIN Palangka Raya.

This study used qualitative and the type of qualitative research usedcase study. In collecting the data, this study used interview and documentation. In analyzing the data,this study used some techniques namely, (1) data reduction, (2) data display, (3) conclusions. The subject in this study was the students of fifth semester of English Education Study Program at IAIN Palangka Raya which consisted of 18 students which were chosen by using homoginies sampling. The object in this study was the education value based on the “Miracle Worker” movie.

The result of this study are foundeighteen education values in the”Miracle Worker”movie based on the students’ perception such as Religion, Honesty, Tolerance, Discipline, Hard work, Creativity, Independent, Democracy, Curiosity, Citizenship, Patriotism, Rewarding Achievement, Friendship, Peace, Reading habit, Environmental Care, Care and Responsibility based on the students’explanation that there are some perceptions which unrelated to the description of the education values. It means that the education value’s character which comprehended by the students surface. Based on the data finding, it is suggested that from this study thatthe teacher could choose the appropriate movie when they teach and for the student pay attention when the student watched the movie in order to comprehend the content of the movie that contains education values.

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengklasifikasikan dan menggambarkan persepsi tentang nilai pendidikan dalam film “Miracle Worker” berdasarkan persepsi mahasiswa semester lima pendidikan bahasa inggris di IAIN Palangka Raya.

Penelitian ini menggunakan kualitatif dan jenis penelitian kualitatif yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi kasus. Dalam pengumpulan data, penelitian ini menggunakan wawancara dan dokumentasi. Dalam menganalisis data, penelitian ini menggunakanbeberapa teknikyaitu, (1) reduksidata, (2) displaydata, (3) Kesimpulan. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester lima English Program Studi Pendidikan di IAIN Palangka Raya yang berjumlah 18 orang dipilih berdasarkan homogeni sampling.Objek dalam penelitian ini adalah nilai pendidikan berdasarkan film “Miracle Worker”.

Hasil dari penelitian ini adalahada delapan belas nilai-nilai pendidikan dalam film"Miracle Worker"berdasarkan persepsi mahasiswa seperti: keagamaan, jujur, toleransi, disiplin, kerja keras, kreatif, mandiri, demokrasi, rasa ingin tahu, semangat kebangsaan, cinta tanah air, menghargai prestasi, bersahabat, cinta damai, gemar membaca, peduli lingkungan, peduli sosial dan tanggung jawab. berdasarkan penjelasan dari beberapa persepepsi mahasiswa ada beberapa yang tidak berdasarkan diskripsi dari nilai-nilai pendidikan yang berarti karakter dari nilai-nilai pendidikan yang dimengerti dari mahasiswa hanya secara permukaan saja. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh, disarankan dari penelitian ini bahwa guru harus dapat memilih film yang sesuai apabila ingin mengajar dengan media film dan untuk pelajar memperhatikan ketika menonton film, film yang ditonton harus mengandung nilai-nilai pendidikan.
