Abstract

The objective of this study is to know the instructors’ difficulties toward English language development program in Ma'had Al-Jami'ah IAIN Palangkaraya and how instructors cope with does difficulties. This study used qualitative case study methods with subject 6 musrif (Male) and 7 Musrifah (Female) derived from English block academic years 2015/2016.

The techniques of the data collection applied in this study were observation, interviews, documentation. To analyze the data that is inductive interiactive model of Miles and Hubberman namely: 1) Collection of data (data collection), 2) Reduction of data (data reduction), 3) Presentation of data (data display), 4) conclusion / perifikasi (conclusion drawing / verification ).

The result of the study showed that instructors experienced some difficulty in performing activities in the Ma’had Al-Jami’ah , difficulties were: 100% of instructors said there is no curriculum and syllabus to handle ,85% of instructors said differences educational background of the members in one group, different of majors and the members lack motivation for learning English language, 15% instructors said influenced by Reviews their friend members who are lazy and outside member and there is no training for increase of knowledge and methods of Teaching English language.

The solution given by the istructors with those dificulties toward English language to process of the development of English language continued successfully with some measure. 54% instructors said always the make activity fun, happy and present materials with the creative menner, 31% Instructors said always give motivation to the members the important of learning English, 38% isntructors said to approach with the member for to know what they need and the make learning together.

ABSTRAK

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kesulitan tutor terhadap kegiatan pengembangan bahasa di asrama Ma’had Al-Jami’ah IAIN Palangka Raya dan bagaimana cara senior menghadapi kesulitan tersebut. Peneliti mengunakan metode penelitian kualitatif case study dengan subject 6 musrif(Male) dan 7 musrifah(Female) yang berasal dari block Inggris tahun 2015/2016.

Tehknik pengumpulan data adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Untuk menganalisis data yaitu menggunakan menduktif model interaktif Miles and Hubberman yaitu: 1) Pengumpulan data (data collection), 2) Pengurangan data (data reduction), 3) Penyajian data (data display), 4) penarikan kesimpulan/perifikasi (conclusion drawing/verification).

Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan bahwa senior mengalami beberapa kesulitan dalam menjalankan kegiatan di asrama, kesuliatan itu adalah: 100% senior mengatakan kesulitannya karena tidak ada kurikulum dan syllabus sebagai panduan dalam kegiatan,85% senior mengatakan bahwa kesulitanya karena perbedaan pendidikan sebelumnya, perbedaan jurusan dalam satu kelompok belajar dan kurangnya motivasi member dalam belajar bahasa Inggris, 15% senior mengatakan bahwa kesulitanya karena member mudah terpengaruh dengan teman yang berasal dari luar asrama dan karena tidak ada pelatihan sebelum menjadi senior tentang cara dan metode yang baik dalam mengajar bahasa Inggris.

Solusi yang dilakukan senior dalam mengatasi masalah tersebut agar proses pengembangan bahasa Inggris tetap berjalan lancar dan berhasil dengan melakukan berbagai cara yaitu. 54% senior mengatakan selalu membuat aktifitas menyenangkan dan menyampaikan materi dengan cara yang menarik, 31% senior mengatakan selalu memberikan motivasi untuk member petingnya belajar bahasa Inggris, 38% senior melakukan pendekatan dengan member untuk mengetahui bagaimana pelajaran yang mereka butuhkan dengan membuat kelompok belajar.
