Abstract

This research is aimedto measure the the students’ perceptions on the instructional method applied by the lecturers in teaching reading subject at the English education study program of STAIN Palangka Raya
The type of study was case study, the writer used qualitative approach. Data collections used were observation, interview, and documentation. There were four classes A, B, C, and D in reading III subject, and 20 students were as respondent who were interviewed, this research used purposive sampling.
The result of the study shown that:the students’ perceptions on the instructional method applied by the lecturers in teaching reading subject at the English education study program of STAIN Palangka Raya, could be divided into three categories; satisfied, less satisfied, unsatisfied. The satisfied methods that used by the lecturers in teaching reading III subject at TBI STAIN Palangka Raya were direct method and cooperative learning. Less satisfied methods that used by the lecturers in teaching reading III subject at TBI STAIN Palangka Raya were lecturing, and brainstorming. Unsatisfied methods that used by the lecturers in teaching reading III subject at TBI STAIN Palangka Raya were grammar translation method, and tasking.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur persepsi mahasiswa terhadap metode pembelajaran yang diterapkan oleh dosen reading dalam pembelajaran mata kuliah reading diprogram studi pendidikan bahasa Inggris STAINPalangka Raya.
Penelitian ini menggunakan studi kasus. Penulis menggunakan pendekatan Kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Ada empat kelas reading A, B, C and D, dan 20 orang yang menjadi responden untuk diwawancarai. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik purposive sampling (sampel bertujuan).
Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa: persepsi mahasiswa terhadap metode instruksional yang diterapkan oleh dosen reading di tadris bahasa inggris STAIN Palangka Raya, terbagi dalam tiga kategori, Puas, Kurang puas, dan tidak puas. Metode yang puas digunakan dosen dalam pembelajaran reding III di tadris bahasa inggris STAIN Palangka Raya, adalah direct method dan cooperative learning. Metode yang kurang puas digunakan dosen dalam pembelajaran reding III di tadris bahasa inggris STAIN Palangka Raya, adalah ceramah, dan brainstorming. Metode yang tidak puas digunakan dosen dalam pembelajaran reding III di tadris bahasa inggris STAIN Palangka Raya, adalah grammar translation method dan penugasan.
