Abstract
School leadership is an important element in achieving educational goals. This study aims to explain the school leadership model about teacher competency development in Indonesia. The phenomenological approach is used in qualitative research to explore in-depth information regarding the experiences experienced and felt by participants. Determination of the subject using the purposive sampling technique. Fifteen participants consisted of teachers in the city of Palangkaraya, Indonesia. The data collection technique used in-depth interviews. The data collection instrument used an interview protocol that had been made beforehand. Data analyst using data collection procedures, coding, presentation of data, and interpretation of data. The research findings show that there are three main conclusions. First, the leadership model is influenced by teaching experience and education level. Second, the teacher competency development strategy is carried out by school leaders. Third, are the obstacles faced in the process of developing teacher competence. The results of this study, apart from being a simple guide, also need to be corrected for the limitations and shortcomings of the research through the results of further research.
