Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji : (1) Peningkatan keterampilan proses sains peserta didik setelah di ajarkan dengan strategi pembelajaran problem solving, (2) Peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik setelah di ajarkan dengan strategi pembelajaran problem solving, (3) Terdapat atau tidaknya perbedaan signifikan yang keterampilan proses sains peserta didik yang diajar dengan strategi pembelajaran problem solving dibandingkan dengan peserta didik yang diajar dengan model konvensional, (4) Terdapat atau tidaknya perbedaan yang signifikan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik yang diajar dengan strategi pembelajaran problem solving dibandingkan dengan peserta didik yang diajar dengan model konvensional.
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan merupakan jenis quasi experimental design (desain eksperimental semu). Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret 2016. Populasi penelitian adalah kelas VIII MTsN 2 Palangka Raya tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik nonprobability sampling. Sampel penelitian adalah kelas VIII C sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VIII D sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar tes keterampilan proses sains dan lembar tes kemampuan berpikir kritis. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa: (1) Rata-rata skor N-gain keterampilan proses sains peserta didik sebesar 0,12 dan termasuk dalam kategori rendah. (2) Rata-rata skor N-gain keterampilan proses sains peserta didik sebesar 0,19 dan termasuk dalam kategori rendah. (3) Tidak ada perbedaan signifikan keterampilan proses sains peserta didik yang diajar dengan strategi pembelajaran problem solving dibandingkan dengan peserta didik yang diajar dengan model konvensional, dengan nilai Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0,130, karena Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) > 0,05 (uji t dengan α = 0,05) maka Ho diterima dan Ha ditolak. (4) Ada perbedaan signifikan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik yang diajar dengan strategi pembelajaran problem solving dibandingkan dengan peserta didik yang diajar dengan model konvensional, dengan Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0,02, karena Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) < 0,05 maka Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak.
ABSTRACT
This research aimed to reviewing: (1) Improvement of students’ science skill process after implementing problem solving learning strategy, (2) Improvement of students’ critical thinking skills after implementing problem solving learning strategy, (3) There or not the significant differences of students’ science skill processes after implementing problem solving learning strategy compared to conventional models, (4) There or not the significant differences of students’ critical thinking skills are taught by problem solving learning strategies compared to students who taught by conventional models.
This research used a quantitative approach and it was quasi-experimental design. This research was conducted in March 2016. The research population was grade VIII MTsN 2 Palangkaraya Academic Year 2014/2015. The sample research technique was non probability sampling. The samples were class VIII C as the experimental class and class VIII D as controlling sampling. The instruments were science skill process worksheets and critical thinking ability worksheets. The results showed that: (1) the average N-gain score of students’ science skill process was 0.12 and it included into low category. (2) the average N-gain score of students’ critical thinking ability was 0.19 and it included into low category. (3) testing posttest differences of science process skills was 0.130, because Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed)>0.05 (t test with α = 0.05), then Ho was accepted and Ha was rejected so that it could be concluded that there was no significant difference science process skills of students taught by problem solving learning strategies compared to conventional models. (4) Testing posttest differences of critical thinking skills at 0,02, because Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) <0.02 then Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. It could be concluded that there were no significant differences of implementing critical thinking skill and problem solving learning strategies compared to conventional models.
