Abstract

In general, nominalization is to change verbs or adjectives into nouns, the main purpose of this study were to analysis of (1) how nominalizations are presented in second language writing products and (2) to know whether nominalization make the reading text lexically dense by the students of English education study program at IAIN Palangka Raya.

In this study, the type of this study used documentation or content analysis, the design of this study used qualitative research. The subject of this study was the third semester students at English education study program of IAIN Palangka Raya especially in writing II. The number of the subject was five students.

From the result, the writer found that the students’ writing products still lack of presented the nominalization in their text. Because of that in the term of the lexical density within the students’ texts were very poor. The students showed their nominalization was very poor, it could be happened because some reasons : (1) The students can not changed the form of verb and adjective into noun. (2) The students can not comprehend the information within nominalization.

ABSTRAK

Secara umum, perbendaan adalah untuk mengubah kata kerja atau kata sifat ke kata benda, tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis (1) bagaimana perbendaan disajikan dalam hasil menulis bahasa kedua dan (2) untuk mengetahui apakah perbendaan membuat teks bacaan menjadi leksikal padat oleh mahasiswa program studi pendidikan bahasa Inggris di IAIN Palangkaraya.

Dalam penelitian ini, jenis penelitian ini menggunakan dokumentasi atau analisis isi, desain penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester tiga program studi bahasa inggris pendidikan IAIN Palangka Raya terutama dalam menulis II. Jumlah subjek lima mahasiswa.

Dari hasil penelitian, penulis menemukan bahwa hasil menulis siswa masih kurang dari penyajian perbendaan dalam teks mereka. Karena itu bentuk kepadatan leksikal dalam teks-teks siswa yang sangat rendah. Para siswa menunjukkan perbendaan mereka masih sangat rendah, itu bisa terjadi karena beberapa alasan: (1) siswa tidak dapat mengubah bentuk kata kerja dan kata sifat ke dalam kata benda. (2) siswa tidak dapat memahami informasi dalam nominalisasi.
