Abstract

The study is intended to know meaning, the implementation of thematic learning to class I SDN Raja 2 Pangkalan Bun with the formulation of the problems; 1) How is the lesson planning using the thematic learning approach? 2) How ia the learning process using the thematic learning approach? 3) How is the evaluation of thematic learning approach at SDN 2 Raja Pangkalan Bun? The objectives of the study are to know the lesson planning using the thematic learning approach, the learning process using the thematic learning approach, evaluation of thematic learning approach at SDN 2 Raja Pangkalan Bun.
Considering the study is classified as descriptive study, therefore, the approach that is used is the approach that is to describe variables, phenomena, quality or certain conditions being studied. The subjects of the study are the teachers and those who carry out thematic learning. Beside the teachers as main sources, the teachers take the position as key informant, while other students (including headmaster) become informant.
The study takes 2 (two) months and uses observation, interviewed and documentation. In terms of data collection, the data are validated through triangulation. While the techniques of data collection involve data collection, data reduction and data display and conclusion.
Through the study it is known that the thematic learning is done by the school, more specifically, in class I. The implementation of thematic learning involves:: a) planning, the teachers in thematic learning prepare the administration of teaching as stated in guideline, including making the maping of KD, making theme or web, arrange syllabus and making lesson plan. In terms of the implementation, the teachers do not implement thematic learning based on the principles of thematic learning in guidebook. The students do not join the lesson seriously when one lesson changes to be another lesson.
