Abstract
This research is motivated by the phenomenon of the rise of online game lovers. And this phenomenon has increased in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic in the last two years. Basically, online games are a means to relieve fatigue and stress from busy studies and work. However, the reality is that playing online games turns into a routine activity and even becomes a dependency. So that it interferes with study time, work, worship and others. Therefore, this study aims to determine how the legal status of the game when judging from maqashid al-syariah. The theory applied is the theory of maqashid al sharia. This research is a library research and is qualitative. Technical analysis of the data used is descriptive analysis with a normative juridical Islamic law approach. From this study, it was found that playing games offline and online has three applied laws, namely: Mbah, Makruh, and Haram. If the game is played just to relieve fatigue and stress for a moment without disturbing the more important activities, then the law is allowed. and can rise to makruh if it has interfered with the main time such as work, worship, family. It even becomes unlawful if the act causes us to leave our obligations, study, work, worship, and endanger the soul, mind and property.
