Abstract
This paper examines the development and political position of Islamic law in the civil sector in the Dutch colonial period. During the Dutch colonial period, the politics of Islamic civil law in Indonesia at that time applied to the Indonesian people, but the Dutch government tried to apply Western law to its colonies by changing the power of the Islamic religious courts in order to prevent the spread of civil politics of Islamic law at that time. The research method uses a historical approach in which the development and political position of Islamic civil law in the Dutch colonial period, and this research can also be called normative legal research, where the politics of Islamic civil law in the Dutch colonial period must be viewed from a historical approach. Therefore, the intervention of the development and political position of Islamic civil law with Western law in the Dutch colonial period must be seen from its history.
