Abstract
Kepemimpinan merupakan suatu kekuatan penting dalam rangka pengelolaan suatu lembaga pendidikan. Kepemimpinan kepala madrasah sangat strategis dalam pengembangan iklim dan mutu pendidikan, dan salah satu kunci keberhasilan seorang pemimpin adalah kemampuan mengelola diri dan orang lain (softskills). Sehubungan dengan pentingnya softskills bagi seorang pemimpin, penulis melakukan penelitian softskills kepala madrasah dengan menggunakan teori Crosby yang menyatakan bahwa seorang pemimpin harus memiliki delapan komponen softskills. Delapan komponen softskills tersebut dikaitkan dengan standar nasional pendidikan (standar kompetensi lulusan serta standar sarana dan prasarana).
Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pemahaman terhadap konsep dan implementasi softskills kepala madrasah dalam meningkatkan mutu pendidikan di MTsN 1 Model Palangka Raya.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi jenis penelitian lapangan, yaitu penelitian yang langsung mengambil data di lapangan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Langkah-langkah analisa data dimulai dengan mengumpulkan data, mereduksi data, penyajian data serta menarik kesimpulan. Untuk memeriksa keabsahan data menggunakan teknik perpanjangan pengamatan dan triangulasi. Subjek penelitian adalah kepala madrasah, sedangkan informan adalah wakil kepala madrasah, dewan guru, Kaur TU, pegawai TU, orang tua dan siswa.
Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa 1) Konsep softskills kepala madrasah dengan melihat visi, misi, tujuan serta sasaran program yang telah ditetapkan oleh pihak madrasah, disesuaikan dengan delapan komponen softskills berdasarkan teori Crosby yaitu kolaborasi atau kerjasama, ketrampilan komunikasi, inisiatif, kemampuan kepemimpinan, pengembangan, efektivitas / keunggulan pribadi, perencanaan dan pengorganisasian, serta keterampilan presentasi. 2) Implementasi softskills kepala MTsN 1 Model Palangka Raya menunjukkan bahwa delapan konsep softskills tersebut sudah dilaksanakan dan diterapkan oleh kepala madrasah dengan baik sehingga peningkatan mutu pendidikan bisa dicapai terutama mutu lulusan serta mutu sarana prasarana. Namun keunggulan pribadi yang dimiliki oleh kepala madrasah tidak hanya keunggulan seperti dalam teori Crosby, tetapi kepala madrasah juga memiliki sifat yaitu Siddĩq (jujur), Tablĩg (penyampai), Amãnah (bertanggung jawab) serta Fathãnah (cerdas). Maka dari hasil penelitian ini, teori Crosby perlu ditambah dengan empat sifat tersebut, terutama bagi pemimpin di lembaga pendidikan Islam sehingga dalam menjalankan kepemimpinannya selalu dilandasi dengan nilai-nilai spiritual.

Leadership is an important power in the management of an educational institution. The headmaster leadership is very strategic in the development of climate and the quality of education, and one of the key to the success of a leader is the ability to manage themselves and others (softskills). Related to the importance of softskills for a leader, the writer conducted a study about Principal softskills by using the theory of Crosby which states that a leader must have eight components softskills These eight components of the softskills are associated with national education standards (competency standards as well as standards of facilities and infrastructure).
The objectives of this research were describing the headmaster’s understanding of the concepts the implementation of softskills in improving the quality of education in MTsN 1 Model PalangkaRaya
This study used a qualitative method with phenomenological approach to the type of field research, i.e. the research directly retrieved data in the field. Data collection was done by observation, interview and documentation. The steps of data analysis began with data collection, data reduction, data presentation and draw conclusions. To check the validity of the data, used the techniques of observation and triangulation extension. The subject was the principal of Madrasah, while informants were the vice principals, teachers, head of administrative affairs, administrative officers, parents and students .
This study showed that 1) The principal’s concept of softskills by viewing vission, mission, the objectives and programs’ achievements set up by the school, in line with the eight components of softskills based Crosby’s theory namely collaboration or cooperation, communication skills, initiative, leadership skills, development, effectiveness/personal excellence, planning and organizing, and presentation skills. 2) Softskills Implementation of the Principal of MTsN 1 Model Palangka Raya showed those eight softskills concept which have already been implemented and applied by the principal so well that improving the quality of education can be achieved, especially the quality of graduates and the quality of infrastructure. However, personal excellence possessed by the principal is not only excellence as in Crosby theory, but the principal also has four characters namely Siddĩq (truthful), Tablĩg (messenger), Amãnah (responsibility) and Fathãnah (intelligent). Then, from these research results, Crosby theory needs to be supplemented by such four characters, so that a leader, especially in Islamic educational institutions, in carrying out his/her leadership always based on spiritual values.
