Abstract

Di SMA Katolik St. Petrus Kanisius Palangka Raya, peneliti melihat sesuatu yang menarik. Peneliti melihat para peserta didik berbaur, bermain, bercanda, makan, dan mengadakan kegiatan bersama. Mereka seoalah-olah lupa dari suku mana mereka berasal, apa warna kulit mereka, bagaimana status sosial keluarga mereka. Seperti itu juga dengan permasalahan agama, selama tidak mengganggu agama lain mereka tetap menjalankan kegiatan bersama dengan tidak membedakan satu dengan yang lainnya. Begitu pula para guru dan staf di sekolah tersebut, mereka bergaul dan mengerjakan tugas tanpa ada rasa perbedaan. Perumusan masalah dalam penulisan ini adalah bagaimana kepemimpinan kepala SMA Katolik St. Petrus Kanisius Palangka Raya perspektif multikultural, bagaimana implementasi pendidikan multikultural di SMA Katolik St. Petrus Kanisius Palangka Raya dan apa saja aspek pendukung pelaksanaan pendidikan multikultural di SMA Katolik St. Petrus Kanisius Palangka Raya.

Penelitian ini adalah jenis penelitian lapangan, termasuk kategori penelitian deskriptif dengan strategi yang digunakan adalah studi kasus (case study). Tipe penelitian studi kasus ini adalah “studi kasus tunggal” karena peneliti menggali informasi satu kasus yang dialami oleh satu informan. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMA Katolik St. Petrus Kanisius Palangka Raya. Teknik Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi.

Dari hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa Kepala SMA Katolik St. Petrus Kanisius Palangka Raya pada dasarnya telah melakukan unsur-unsur yang sudah sesuai dengan perspektif multikultural, yang mana peneliti memandangnya pada empat aspek yaitu gaya kepemimpinan, supervisi, hubungan interaksi dan komunikasi serta manajerial. Kemudian implementasi pendidikan multikultural di sekolah ini juga diperankan dengan sangat baik oleh komponen-komponen yang ada, yaitu kepala sekolah, pendidik, tenaga kependidikan dan staf administrasi, serta peserta didik. Sedangkan untuk aspek pendukung pelaksanaan pendidikan multikultural, diperhatikan dari beberapa aspek yaitu; sarana dan prasarana, kurikulum, atmosfir/lingkungan, serta ekstrakurikuler. Pada sebagian aspek ini masih terdapat yang kurang maksimal.

ABSTRACT

In Catholic High School St. Peter Canisius Palangka Raya, researchers noticed something interesting. Researchers looked learners mingling, playing, joking, eating, and conduct joint activities. They look like forget where they came from, what color their skin, how the social status of their families. It is also the issue of religion, as long as they do not interfere with other religions, they still carry out activities together with not differentiate each other. Similarly, the teachers and staff at the school, they hang out and work without any sense of distinction. Formulation of the problem in this paper is how the Headschool of Catholic High School St. Peter Canisius Palangka Raya in multicultural perspective, how the implementation of multicultural education at Catholic High School St. Peter Canisius Palangka Raya and any supporting aspects in the implementation of multicultural education at Catholic High School St. Peter Canisius Palangka Raya.

This research is kind of field research. Including in descriptive research with case study strategy. Type of this case study is a "single case study" for investigators to dig up information from one case experienced by one informant. This research was conducted at the Catholic High School St. Peter Canisius Palangka Raya. The data was collected by interview, observation and documentation.

Result of this research found that the head of the Catholic High School St. Peter Canisius Palangka Raya basically has done the elements in accordance with the multicultural perspectives. Researchers looked at four aspects, those are style of leadership, supervision, interaction and communication and managerial. Then implementation of multicultural education in school is also going very well by existing the components, those are the principal, teachers, staff and administration staff, and students. For supporting the aspects of the implementation of multicultural education is considered from several aspects, namely; facilities and infrastructure, curriculum, atmosphere/environment, as well as extracurricular. Most of these aspects still less than the maximum.
