Abstract

One of the problems in learning o foreign language is o gap between first language and target language to be studied. This often happens due to lock of knowledge of the target language by learners of foreign languages, and emerged as a result of differences of linguistic and sociocultural first language and target language. in o situation like this then use the right approach and the selection of functional materials that hove o very important role in determining the success of the process of learning o foreign language. Therefore the use of authentic materials will help learners, especially for those who ore not familiar with the target language at all. One port that is often overlooked in the teaching of BIPA is o component of lndonesian culture. BIPA learners often experience culture clash when they entered into this cultural situation. This problem con be bridged by using authentic-laden moterial culture of lndonesia as teaching materials BIPA. Authentic material can be taken from newspapers, television news footage about the events in lndonesia, rodio programs, o list of restaurant menus, advertisements, and so on
