Abstract

This research was motivated by non-Muslim food businesses that did not register halal certification of their products. Even though the registration of halal certification is an obligation for business actors. This makes Muslim consumers hesitant to buy food sold by non-Muslim businesses. The focuses of this research ware what is the reality of halal certification of non�Muslim UMKM products in Palangka Raya City? and why do non-Muslim UMKM entrepreneurs not register their products with BPJPH? The subjects of this study were restaurants whose
owners were non-Muslim. The data in this study was collected by observation, interview and documentation methods. This type of research in this study is empirical research using uu and socio legal approaches. Results in this study: The reality of halal certification in non-Muslim restaurants in Palangka Raya City was very little this is due to the socialization carried out by authorized institutions no one has reached non-Muslim restaurant entrepreneurs in Palangka Raya City, it is causing restaurant entrepreneurs whose non-Muslim owners do not know about the existence of UUJPH which requires halal certification then the reason restaurant
entrepreneurs do not register their products with BPJPH is because of the they does not know about halal certification obligations and also the average cost for Palangka Raya City of 3,500,000.00 is very burdensome for restaurant entrepreneurs, especially now that restaurant entrepreneurs experience a decrease in income due to the pandemic.
