Abstract

Project-Based Learning (PBL) is a model for classroom activity emphasizing learning activities that are long-term, not isolated, student centered, and integrated with real issues and practices. The practice of PBL is also practical and purposeful to encourage the students to learn creatively based on their fields of interest. In the classroom of Scientific Writing course, the students tend to be encountered with the real problem, producing a research proposal. It will become the crucial issue for the obligation to undergraduate thesis writing as the real-world investigation in the next semester. It might also become the challenge in their future life after graduation. Therefore, with the power of PBL through research proposal writing, it leads the student writers to develop the writing skill. In an attempt to deal with the challenging problem, this paper introduces the appropriate teaching procedures to lead to the success of implementation of PBL in Scientific Writing class. More importantly, since PBL is both process and product oriented, writing process in the writing instruction is discussed and implemented as well.
