Abstract

Ritual batatamba is a traditional way of treatment that becomes one of the local wisdoms especially in Central Kalimantan used as a healing medium of a variety of both physical and psychic diseases. Treatment made by using ingredients around the environment, then read the verses of the Qur'an. The research problems in the researcher is how the ritual procession batatamba and how the analysis of ritual meanings batatamba using social theory. The research method used was descriptive qualitative research using field study (Field Research) With 5 people patamba which were 45-70 years old, and 5 people batatamba which were 45-75 years old both men and women. The location of the research was at Pegatan, Katingan Kuala district, regency Katingan Central Kalimantan. This research used observation method, interview, and documentation. The results showed that the ritual meaning batatamba with Durkeim theory in cultural societies. There were four elements, such as the sacred, classification, rite and solidarity. In the four elements that the local culture of the ritual batatamba had its own rules and procedures in manambai or cured people were getting sick. Thus, the ritual batatamba it was considered important in everyday life for local communities.
