The result of this study was as follows: (1) It has been found 39 the total errors made by the students in writing narrative. Based on surface strategy taxonomy, the highest frequency error made by the students was Omission 20 errors or 51.28%. The second errors were addition: simple addition 1 errors or 2.56%, regularization 9 errors or 23.07. The third error was misformation 9 errors or 23.07%.The common types of error occurred by the students was omission. (2) Based on comparative taxonomy which applied in explaining error phase, it was known that the students’ errors were the highest frequency errors’ cause of the students’ errors was developmental error 15 errors or 38.46%. The second cause of errors was other error 13 errors or 33.33%.Those errors classified neither developmental nor interlingual.
