Abstract

ABSTRACT

This thesis entitled “Syntactical Analysis of Noun Phrase on The Translation of Andrea Hirata’s Entitled LaskarPelangi to Its English Version”.The object of the analysis is noun phrase in the novel. This study is intended to find out the way of the translator translates noun phrase on the procedures. In addition this study also intended to find the type and shift of noun phrase on the translation in process of translation.

This study mainly intended to give input for the writer to know how the translator translates the noun phrase in the source language into target language. The method of collecting data is analysis on written document. In analyzing the data, the method used is descriptive qualitative method. Generally, qualitative method is the method used to analyze the problem which are not designed or arranged used statistic procedures.

The result finding of the study which is categorized noun phrase based on type and shift of translation. In noun phrase translation, the translation procedures applied idiomatic translation. The analysis shows that expansion procedure entails different shift. There writer found three shifts, are structure shift, unit shift and intra system shift. Then, the category shift consists of 60% structure shift and 40% unit shift translation.

Tesisiniberjudul “Syntactical Analysis of Noun Phrase on The Translation of Andrea Hirata’s LaskarPelangi to Its English Version”. Objeck penelitian tesis ini adalah frase benda dalam novel. Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk menenukan bagaimana penerjemah laskar pelangi menerjemahkan frase benda pada procedure. Penelitian ini juga dimaksudkan untuk menemukan tipe dan pergeseran frasa benda dalam proses menerjemah.

Metodepengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah dokumen tertulis. Dalam analisis data metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Secara umum, deskriptif kualitatif metode yang digunakan dalam menganalisa masalah yang tidak disusun berdasarkan prosedur statistik. Temuan dari analisis yang dilakukan dengan mengelompokkan data berdasarkan frasa benda dalam tipe dan perpgeseran terjemahan. Pada penerjemahan frasa benda, penerjemahan yang digunakan adalah penerjemahan idiomatik.

Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa prosedur yang digunakan adalah dalam menerjemahkan frasa benda pada penerjemahan. Tipe yang selalu digunakan dalam menerjemah adalah idiomatik penerjemahan. Penulis menemukan tiga pergeseran yaitu pergeseran struktur, pergeseran unit dan pergeseran intra system. Kemudian kategori pergeseran terdiri dari 60% pergeseran struktur dan 40% pergeseran unit.
