Abstract

Tantangan pengembangan industri perbankan syariah semakin meningkat termasuk operasional dan model-model bank syariah yang dapat dikembangkan di masa depan. Untuk itu, dibutuhkan model-model bisnis bank syariah ideal, workable, dan prudent yang dapat melayani lebih banyak masyarakat, menjawab harapan berbagai pihak, sesuai dengan karakter bisnis perbankan syariah Indonesia, berorientasi masa depan dan comply dengan international standard. Perbankan dan lingkungan dalam beberapa hal cenderung berlawanan. Bank adalah institusi profit oriented sedangkan lingkungan adalah suatu sistem yang tidak bernilai financial. Meskipun perbankan dan lingkungan berada dalam dua dunia yang berbeda tetapi keduanya memiliki kepentingan yang sama yaitu sustainability, sehingga diperlukan komitmen dan kerja sama dalam mencapai kepentingan tersebut dengan mengintegrasikan aspek-aspek pengelolaan lingkungan dan sosial di dalam sustainable economy development.
Berdasarkan latar belakang tersebut, tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah mengkaji implementasi green banking di perbankan syariah dan bagaimana strategi optimalisasi model bisnis green banking pada perbankan syariah.
Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualitatif. Penelitian kualitatif yaitu penelitian yang bermaksud untuk memahami fenomena tentang apa yang dialami oleh subjek penelitian secara holistik, dan dengan cara deskripsi dalam bentuk kata-kata dan bahasa, pada suatu konteks khusus yang alamiah dan dengan memanfaatkan berbagai metode ilmiah. atau teknik pengumpulan data lebih banyak dilakukan dengan pengamatan (observasi), wawancara mendalam (in depth interview) dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan cara reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan.
Hasil penelitian capaian implementasi green banking di PT. Bank X belum menyeluruh dilaksanakan. Capaian pada kriteria produk telah diimplementasikan dalam green banking yaitu green product, green loan, green card, dan green portofolio. Pada kriteria tata kelola korporat, green employee telah dilakukan pegawai PT. Bank X, namun masih ada beberapa pegawai yang belum konsisten melaksanakannya. Green operational telah dilakukan melalui sistem aplikasi online, penginputan proses pembiayaan online dan sudah tidak menggunakan full paper, paperless dalam transaksi di teller dan customer service, serta green business process pada proses verifikasi pemberian fasilitas pembiayaan. Pada kriteria lingkungan dan komunitas, PT. Bank X telah melakukan save energy dengan cara menggunakan energi sesuai dengan kebutuhan. Kriteria less emition dilakukan dengan mengurangi penggunaan AC di ruangan kerja pegawai, namun belum di banking hall.

Abstract

The challenges of islamic banking industrial development have been developed, including operationals and models of islamic banks which can be developed in the future. Therefore, it is needed ideal, workable, and prudent business models of islamic banks that can serve more customers, meet the expectations of various parties, accord with business character of Indonesia’s islamic banking in which it is future-oriented and complies to international standard. That being said, banking and environment in some aspects tend to be opposite. Bank is a profit-oriented institution, meanwhile environment is a system which as a non-financial value. Although banking and the environment are in two different worlds but both of them share the same interest which is sustainability. Thus, it requires commitments and cooperations in order to achieve the purpose with integrating aspects of environmental and social management in sustainable economy development.
Based on the background, the main objective of this research is to analyze the implementation of green banking in islamic banking and how is the strategy to optimize this business model in islamic banking.
This study is a qualitative research. Qualitative research is a study that intends to understand the phenomenon of what is experienced by the subject of research holistically, and by description in the form of words and language, in a special, natural context by utilizing various scientific methods. Data collection techniques are mostly done by observation, in depth interview and documentation. Data analysis is carried out by data reduction, data presentation and conclusion.
The result of the achievement of green banking implementation at PT bank X was not fully implemented. The achievements based on product criteria that had been implemented were green product, green loan, green card, and green portofolio. At corporate management criteria, green employee had been employed at PT Bank X, but there were some employees who did not perform consistently in accordance to the criteria. Green operational had been executed by online application system, inputting online the financing process and not using full paper, paperless in transactions by tellers and customer service, and also green business process in verification process of providing financing facility. On environmental and community criteria, PT Bank X had done ‘save energy’ by using energy as needed. Less emition criteria was done by minimazing the use of air conditioning in workplace, but still not in the banking hall.
